The Au Sable Skunk, originated by Earl Madsen of Grayling, MI. Developed sometime between 1930 and 1950, this is the first fly to ever incorporate rubber legs. Other names for this pattern- of which there are countless variations- are the Michigan Skunk, Michigan Hopper, and Earl Madsen Skunk. It’s also tied in a wet fly version also created by Earl Madsen.
